A few planned features for the ship:
An ornate prow with bow chaser cannons.
Gun ports for the cannons to hide in.
An ornate stern to add more beauty to the ship.
This ship will also have too many cannons to put on one deck. In fact, this ship may have up to 3 gun decks if you count the top deck. If you only count the heavy round cannons then it will only count for 2 decks.
As of now the Eclipse has 42 spots for gun ports on the ship's broadsides (21 cannons on the left, 21 cannons on the right). It is planed to have 2 aft cannons and 4 bow chaser cannons. It will have three masts and will mostly be square rigged (square sails). I will eventually add a rudder, and anchors to the hull. Lanterns may be a little difficult, but I will add them. The stern may have a balcony like the one in the image above. I will add spots on the decks to act as openings where the crew can access the lower decks of the ship. I will add cannons. Railing will be a pain but it will be added.
The most difficult part will perhaps be giving the ship the appearance of having an inner framework. On a real ship, this framework would resemble the rib cage in a human, and it is used to define the shape of the ship's hull. The ship's framework is so important that if a ship does not have one, or if it has a poorly constructed one the ship may crush itself under its own weight. Unfortunately it takes an unbelievable amount of time to create such a frame, and getting it to actually look good is another challenge.
Post your comments if you have any suggestions or ideas of what I can add to the ship.
