I would like to use Clara.io to previsualize live event stage lighting (This is during coronavirus times so "what events" you might ask. But we can dream!)
First I've got to create a working lighting unit. I've imported a model of an ETC Source4 light. I then assigned a spotlight to it as a child. Now I have a lighting unit with light coming out of it that can be moved around. Very good.
But I want to add a feature of real world lights called shutters. They are small plates that can be slid in front of a beam of light to sculpt its shape. Each light has four of these. One for the top, bottom and two sides.
I figured I just had to add little boxes and put them in front of the lighting beams, set the "cast Shadow" selection and it should work like a real world shutter.
But I can't get anything I put in front of my spotlight to cast a shadow. I put a box in front of one of might lights and I can't get it to cast light, either in the modeler or in the V2 Player.
Here's a link to the scene in the modeler:
And here is a link to a scene where I believe a box is blocking a spotlight and thereby casting shadows onto the scene.
OK, maybe I'm wrong. in the rendered second scene there are no shadows. But there are there in the editor!
Thanks for any help.
